ESPN’s Body Issue has blazed a lot of new trails in terms of how we see athletes, but its profile of Paralympic athlete Scout Bassett sets a new high bar. The story of how she came to wear a prosthetic leg begins during her childhood, but as an adult it’s clear that it’s become a very natural part of her and others lives.
As the technology behind prosthetic devices continues to improve along with the rest of our technology, we can expect to see more examples like Bassett who is one of the best examples of how technology and humanity can merge and be something beautiful.
