Japan takes its robots seriously, and to prove it a team is working on a full-sized, fully working Gundam robot. The robot is being constructed to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the hit anime series Mobile Suit Gundam.

The first public test to show off how the robot moves was conducted in Ibaraki Prefecture, and the final working robot, which will be costumed in the classic look instead of all steel, will be open to public later this year in Yokohama.
