What started as a fascinating sub-plot of the new Star Trek: Discovery series has now earned the right to get its very own series called Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.
Starring Anson Mount (Hell On Wheels), Ethan Peck (as Spock), and Rebecca Romijn (X-Men), the series will delve into the classic realm of Star Trek, specifically, the world the original Captain Kirk (William Shatner) inhabited back in the 1960s.
What’s obvious now is that the experiment known as Short Treks was really just a way to allow the actors to discover their chemistry and give fans a say as to whether we needed to follow their adventures in the past. Luckily, CBS All Access was listening, and now we have what is basically the Star Trek Channel with Discovery, Picard, and now Strange New Worlds.
There’s no word on when the series will be released, since all of Hollywood is on pause right now, but the actors recorded a great message (see video above) that should hold fans over for a while.
