There are remakes that we need and remakes that just sometimes pop up in weird forms. That’s the case with a new Xfinity commercial featuring none other than E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial from the 1982 movie of the same name.
In a new, rather long (four minutes) television commercial titled “A Holiday Reunion” E.T. has a heartwarming reunion with Elliot (Henry Thomas), who now has a full family of his own.
They didn’t do much to update the look or special effects around the character, which lends to its authenticity as a throwback video, but, somehow, there’s something a bit creepy about good old E.T. showing up out of nowhere and taking Elliot’s kids on a night right in the sky. What it does accomplish is letting us know that we ‘do not’ need a full movie version remake of this film, we’re good.
